The winner went to Los Angeles for the World Cup final matches in the summer of 1994, the first time the tournament was held in the United States. Pak Watch made the tie-in explicit alongside U.S. Gold's World Cup USA 94, which put all 24 finalists in the real host stadiums.

Samus's mission to Zebes as a five-part comic, timed to the game's release and ending the month it arrived.
Chapter three, 'Back to the Nest'. Zebes is a dangerous planet, and the great bounty hunter walks into a hunter's trap: Samus is badly hurt, Houston gets her back to her ship and out, and they crash-land on a deserted planet where an old Chozo — nice to see you, old bird — turns out to be the one who made her power suit. Meanwhile the Galactic Federation fleet, with Chairman Keaton and Chief Hardy aboard, runs straight into a Zebesian pirate ship, and Ridley comes calling on the Chairman in person. The Chozo elder lays hands on Samus: the galaxy needs her.
