Super Mario All-Stars took the cover as the NES Mario games arrived remade for the Super NES, with Final Fight 2, The 7th Saga, Rock n' Roll Racing and Family Feud inside. A feature covered the making of Super Empire Strikes Back. Final Fantasy Legend III and Pinball Dreams covered the Game Boy pages.

A certificate worth $5,000 in five years, a scholarship fund to go with Mario is Missing! and its geography lessons on the Super NES. Elsewhere in the issue Konami ran its own Score Big or Stay Home contest, offering a trip to Hawaii to anyone who could beat its all-star team in NFL Football using the lowly Seahawks and a special password.

Benimaru Itoh's serial ran alongside the game, with the Arwing pilots as the magazine drew them: Fox, Falco, Peppy and Slippy against Andross, with a subplot the game never had.
Chapter eight. The voice from the whale ship is Fox's father, warped into another dimension when Andross's black hole took him, and unable to cross back; he points Fox to Fortuna, where Andross has Slippy, and tells him only he can save the Lylat system. On Fortuna, Andross's pet, the Monarch Dodora, is waiting, and the team's weapons don't bruise it — until Slippy, escaped by superior toad intellect, takes out the main transmitter and Fox shoots away the antennas Andross is steering it by. Nobody wants to be in Andross's shoes.
