Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
The fiftieth issue put Link's Awakening on the cover and offered a Power Shop selling the first 50 volumes as a set, with an index. WWF Royal Rumble, Run Saber, E.V.O., Bubsy and an Edutainment roundup filled the features. A 50th Issue Special looked back on five years of the magazine.

Sweepstakes
For the fiftieth issue the winner picked one of five Grand Prizes: a game a week for 50 weeks, two Game Boys with seven link-up games, a $500 gift certificate at a Nintendo dealer, an arcade party for 50 friends with Nintendo Power supplying the quarters, or 50 pounds of quarters. Cards with more than one prize circled were disqualified, and the first card drawn for each prize claimed it.

Nester carried on alone after Howard left Nintendo in 1991, walking into one game a month and finding out the hard way that reading the strategy pages would have helped.
Taz-Mania: Nester leads the Taz Tour for the Taz-Mania Department of Wildlife, having written the book on Taz after thousands of hours observing him camouflaged as a sheep, so he knows Taz eats only small yellow birds. He demonstrates with a kiwi in each hand — if it ain't yellow, it ain't dinner — as the tornado arrives. Taz, it turns out, loves dessert.

Benimaru Itoh's serial ran alongside the game, with the Arwing pilots as the magazine drew them: Fox, Falco, Peppy and Slippy against Andross, with a subplot the game never had.
Chapter six, 'Fly Again', scanned as spreads. A freighter entering Sector Y is torn apart by stellar stingrays — 'we're fish food' — and General Pepper's news is that the peaceful star beasts have turned. On the frozen planet Titania the lizards have become strangely helpful, hypnotised by the telekinetic amplifier, and while the team enjoys it Slippy is grabbed from behind: the Imperial Guard, in a clever ruse, makes off with him and Fara's new Arwing, hyper-boosters and all, straight toward Sector Y and off the radar into the black hole. Low on fuel, the team realises it's been had.
