Street Fighter II: The World Warrior 📌

WWF Super WrestleMania took the cover, with Captain America and the Avengers, Star Trek: 25th Anniversary, Yoshi and Super Smash TV inside. A technology update explained CD-ROM as the next storage medium, and Player's Pulse printed readers' wildest promises to get a Super NES. The Power Players and Classified Information departments kept their places.

If you truly are the hero... the Master Sword itself will... select you!!

Nintendo Power issue 35 profile of Eddie Furlong, page 107

This issue featured an interview with Eddie Furlong — American actor (born 1977).

John Connor in Terminator 2: Judgment Day, cast at fourteen out of the Pasadena Boys Club because a casting director thought he looked like Linda Hamilton's son. He told the magazine that fame felt like a party but he still had to do his chores, that he lived with his aunt and uncle and fought his uncle for first player, and that he couldn't wait for the T2 game. Between saving humanity he played Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts and hung out with Soleil Moon Frye. The nineties brought Pet Sematary Two, Detroit Rock City and, his best work, American History X. After a long rough stretch he returned to the role that started it all, briefly, in Terminator: Dark Fate.

It was hard work, but a lot of fun—Arnold and I used to play Game Boy on the set.

Eddie Furlong, Nintendo Power #35

Sweepstakes

The Grand Prize was the Ford Taurus police cruiser used in RoboCop 2, valued at $8,000, with winners under 18 required to name an adult to take the keys. It went to 16-year-old Danny Smith of Wahoo, Nebraska, who was about to get his driver's license; the police lights had to come off for legal reasons.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Chapter 4 of 12 · 16 pages

Shotaro Ishinomori's retelling of the Super NES game, drawn in the same year it was released and following Link from the rainy night at the castle to the Dark World.

Chapter four, 'The Master Sword'. The Lanmolas' armoured shells won't crack until Link finds the soft spot, and the Pendant of Power is his; a warp tile in the desert sand sends him skyward, where the ghosts of his mother and father tell him they are with his uncle in the World of Darkness. Past a giant spider in the dark, he reaches the pedestal in the Lost Woods with all three pendants, and the Master Sword itself selects him — at last.

Super Mario Adventures

Chapter 4 of 12 · 8 pages · from p. 62

Charlie Nozawa's twelve-part comic, in which Bowser proposes to the Princess, Yoshi eats everything in reach and Luigi gets no respect. Collected in a book by Viz the following year.

Chapter four. Bowser has the Princess at his castle and is planning the wedding: a cake twice as big, lots of chocolate, and Ludwig and the Koopalings told to keep the video line open. Her answer is 'over my dead body', and she makes it good, refusing to join the family and leaping from the tower with a cape — the free-falling Princess steals the month, the narration admits. Mario, Luigi and Yoshi, meanwhile, have found where she's being held and settle on a plan: code name Survival.
