A feature covered the Gateway System, the Super NES-based in-flight entertainment for airlines, and another introduced the Super Mario All-Star Team. A Metroid comic began its run.

Sweepstakes
An NBA Jam arcade cabinet and a Huffy Sports Cyclone portable basketball system, so the winner could play the game and then go play the game. The card asked which other systems readers owned, from Genesis to the 3DO, and the trivia test had Bugs Bunny eating five bunches of carrots a minute.

Samus's mission to Zebes as a five-part comic, timed to the game's release and ending the month it arrived.
Chapter one, 'Red Alarm!', scanned as spreads. Samus wakes from a nightmare of Zebes and the Metroids — a scrapbook of her old battles, the queen she wiped out on SR388, the hatchling she handed over to the Ceres colony scientists — to a distress call: the colony is under attack. She arrives to find the lab going up in smoke and Ridley, scourge of Zebes, holding the hatchling in its jar; he's programmed the station's main computer to self-destruct and leaves her with 'sayonara, space cadet'. It's been a blast, and here we go again.
