Sweepstakes
The winner and a guest flew to the 1994 NHL All-Star Game, a trip valued at $5,000. The card asked whether readers ever called the Game Play Counselors, and the trivia test wanted to know how many teeth a pack of five velociraptors has if one has 934.
Comics
2 in this issue · Volume 54Nester's Adventures
One-page strip · from p. 35
Nester carried on alone after Howard left Nintendo in 1991, walking into one game a month and finding out the hard way that reading the strategy pages would have helped.
Super Empire Strikes Back on Hoth, where Luke asks whether Nester knows how to handle an ice wampa — with gloves, right? Nester's plan is to jump and spin over its freezing breath and whack it with his lightsaber; Luke docks him points for sloppy form and then shows perfect form, a nine, leaving Nester frozen in a block of ice. That's cold.
Star Fox
Chapter 10 of 11 · 12 pages · from p. 56
Benimaru Itoh's serial ran alongside the game, with the Arwing pilots as the magazine drew them: Fox, Falco, Peppy and Slippy against Andross, with a subplot the game never had.
Chapter ten. Papetoon's greatest sculptor is carving a monument to the team's bravery — Falco thinks his looks like a chicken — when Slippy notices that Herbert, the android pig, is gone. On Venom the Andross clone's fleet departs for Papetoon while the heroes are at a banquet and a crêpe-eating contest, the planetary detector array reports warships that cannot exist, and the lizards land at a core base on the surface. Two of the ships are blasted on the way to the Arwings; three is Fox's lucky number, and the fastest three make a break for it.
