This issue featured an interview with Rain Pryor — American actress.
T.J. on Head of the Class and Richard Pryor's daughter, who had performed Annie for Lily Tomlin as a child and counted Tomlin and Whoopi Goldberg as her models. She'd started on Galaga in the arcades, got an NES in 1986, and had just been given a Game Boy; Tetris was the new obsession, played in bed every night to relax, and she called it a mind boggler. The album she was recording turned into a career on stage instead: she became a stand-up and cabaret performer, wrote a memoir, Jokes My Father Never Taught Me, and tours a one-woman show about growing up Black and Jewish in Beverly Hills.
For me the best strategy in Tetris is to line up all the blocks on the sides and leave the middle open. That way, you have more time to maneuver the blocks as they fall.

Howard Phillips, Nintendo of America's bow-tied Game Master, and Nester, the know-it-all kid who never took his advice. Two pages an issue from the first volume on, with a different game's world to get lost in each month.
Howard has spent all morning trying to make the Sub-C submerge on a near-deserted beach, and Nester, sunbathing in shades, promises to sink it in no time with the old Nester ingenuity — which means pressing every button on the console, including Eject. The islanders send Howard to the sub expert's wife, whose specialty turns out to be a six-foot sandwich called the Sinker, and she points him to the secret pathway on the beach where the code to submerge Sub-C is hidden. By the time he's back Nester has cracked it his own way, with a six-inch carbide drill through the hull.
