Final Fantasy Strategy Guide
The third Strategy Guide, a full issue on Final Fantasy: classes, spells, a bestiary and every dungeon mapped, published by Nintendo of America as the game's own U.S. publisher. The chapters follow the Light Warriors from Coneria to the Sea Shrine and back through time to the Temple of Fiends. Subscribers received it in October 1990, as the game hit its stride in America.

Final Fantasy reached America in July 1990, three years after Japan, with Nintendo of America itself as publisher — which is why it got a Strategy Guide, the only one of the four devoted to a role-playing game. Hironobu Sakaguchi has said the name owed as much to wanting the initials “FF” as to any last stand; the story that it was Square’s final roll of the dice is half legend.
